I only figured this out myself after freaking out about the “no results” and finding the research study below. I had a NIPT test done and got low FF the first time (3.6%) because I exercised before the test. This technology is so new, even the NIPT companies that do the testing don’t have enough info on all the things that can effect fetal fraction on their websites. I can just imagine how many women are getting false results taking this test at home smh What were the races of those women? What about BMI? These studies were also done in a controlled lab. I feel sneak peek should offer more accurate details in how they reached that 99% accuracy rate. I’ve seen a review on YouTube of an African American woman who got a false girl result TWICE from sneak peek and they were unable to explain why. Sneak Peek doesn’t tell us any of this info and it’s easy to see how so many people get false results, even false girl results. Studies have found that African American women usually have lower fetal fraction in their blood in comparison to Caucasian woman. Low fetal fraction can happen when our blood is looked at too early of a gestation age (before 10 weeks), it can be affected by BMI, and I just discovered today that race even affects fetal fraction found in blood. The fraction of fetal blood found in a mother is different for everyone. How much of that blood was actually fetal dna? There’s a thing called fetal fraction in pregnant women’s blood that the NIPT test looks at for gender and chromosomal abnormalities. How do we know there’s enough fetal dna in our blood to be detected at 8 weeks? When I received my Sneak Peek results, the email said there was a sufficient amount of blood for the test and in parenthesis said maternal and fetal combined. Sneak Peek says it can detect fetal dna sooner and accurately. However, these tests are not offered until after the 10 week mark to ensure there is enough fetal dna to be detected in mother’s blood for accurate results. Sneak peek compares itself to the NIPT genetic test we all have been offered by our doctors. We all want to know gender and this test states that it can detect cell free dna from the placenta (indicating baby’s gender) as early as 8 weeks. I’m sure you’ll be happy no matter what, but I hope this offers some clarity that maybe after all the research it really is a boy and you can just rest easy knowing.Īs well, on the very minor offchance it’s wrong, it’s not like it’s the end of the world if you do a gender reveal and have to do a correction announcement after.I’ve been doing research on the sneak peek Gender Predictor Test and have found a lot of interesting things that indicate that the company’s accuracy rates couldn’t possibly be as high as they stage. This time around, who knows what I’m having, but after going through it the first time I’m honestly just hoping for a healthy baby and so excited either way. But what I’ll say to you is my boy is the light of my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way. My first was a boy and I had really hoped for a girl, so even after ultrasounds I still googled and researched the chances they could be wrong for forever. I’m just offering this to try and hopefully give you some peace of mind and resolve, but perhaps your hopes for a girl are making you question all your results? I know there can definitely be inaccuracies with this, but there’s a point when you do need to accept it if it’s a boy. I know you’ve said you’re both so excited for your boy, but you’ve also mentioned being convinced it was a girl, and I know that feeling. Please please don’t take offence to this, but it sounds like you really have wishful thinking for hoping it’s a girl.
